GHRP-6 is a synthetic hexapeptide agonist at the ghrelin/growth-hormone-secretagogue (GHS) receptor. In-vitro and preclinical research literature describes stimulation of pulsatile growth-hormone release from pituitary somatotrophs and activation of central ghrelin signaling. Additional preclinical studies report cytoprotective signaling in rodent models of myocardial ischemia. Its mechanism is characterized primarily at the receptor and cellular level.
