Sermorelin is a synthetic analog corresponding to the first 29 amino acids of growth-hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH 1-29), the fragment that retains full receptor activity. In-vitro and preclinical research literature characterizes it as an agonist at the GHRH receptor on pituitary somatotrophs, stimulating endogenous growth-hormone synthesis and pulsatile release, with consequent downstream induction of insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1).
