Overview
Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide (Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro) built on the ACTH(4-10) fragment extended with a C-terminal Pro-Gly-Pro sequence that improves enzymatic stability. The Pro-Gly-Pro extension removes the corticotropic activity of the parent hormone, leaving a neuroactive fragment used as a research reference peptide.
